My personal favorite by these guys. Shame that besides setting new standards for extremity and ferocity in Swedish Death Metal, they also set new standards for retarded ultra-brickwalling even back in 1992. ALL versions of this release are horribly clipped. While "regular" brickwalling will just sound flat and will get annoying when played at really loud volumes, the mastering of this recording is totally screwed, even on the 12" from 1992 (which was cut by good old GZ from the same master as the CD...). Best way to compare is the song "I Wish You Hell" which was also featured on the "Monsters of Death" comp. The Monsters... version is MUCH more listenable compared to this pile of complete garbage. Whoever mastered and OK'ed this deserves to be shot. The bonus track Deathevocation from the "Like An Everflowing Stream" sessions sounds really tame in comparison. It becomes all the more apparent when you compare it to the completely annihilated version of the preceding song "Soon To Be Dead" (which is from the same session!).
In short, stay away from any pressing after this one, the 12" already sounds ridiculously clipped. The 2005 Candlelight CD is even worse, the Back on Black reissue: don't get me started on that one...
While the recording was done in a rush and they kind of went over the top with the HM-2 guitar sound, it's still no reason to completely butcher this recording by slamming the volume to such insane levels.
