I can remember the day I met Goldie, Grooverider brought him to my shop in Reading ' The Record Basement' and the guys offered me the chance to distribute the 1st Metalheadz release. I already knew the tune as Groove & Fabio had been teasing me with it. So to get my hands on a Test Press made my day.
Such an amazing tune by Goldie, when this was first issued it was so fresh that not many DJs got it, however loved by a few was enough for this record to receive cult status.
Docs remix of Drums terrorised the floors across the UK for many years after release, a DJ Fave that demanded to be listened too and received Anthem status.
I distributed the record through my Company Vinyl Distribution and we sold a few 1000. At that time the DnB scene was on its way up, but Jungle was still the headline sound at all the raves, so the release never got the support it deserved, which dissapointed Goldie at the time. I rereleased it a few years later and it sold bucket loads as the Drum N Bass Scene was then in full flow and the tunes finally got the appreciation the ydeserved by the masses.
