Right from the opening cut Cancel Your Order, DOME 1 presented itself as a record that attacked the listener, turning the Wire sound on its head, with deliberately badly recorded guitars and percussion, and a very bizarre production style that was to become a trademark of the Dome sound. I don't think anyone could have expected what was contained within the ten tracks on this album, not all of it being extremely intensive (notably Cruel When Complete, a spooky track featuring vocalist A.C. Marias) but full of invention and new twists on the pioneering works of earlier bands like Kraftwerk, Can, Neu! or Faust.
