Astonishing remaster. I believe that the recording must have been done with utmost care and the tapes are in good shape. Really glad I bought this. Ano no it's not mono. I've been told the mono was a fold down back than, but it was recorded stereo. No clue why they have done it, but they corrected that "mistake". I heard one louder pop so far, otherwise almost silent wax. Cheers.

There are 2 versions of the UK original, the first issue has black labels with Columbia in blue text, the second issue (which was probably issued in the early 70's and is quite possibly rarer than the first issue), has the black labels with silver text, and a boxed white 'Columbia' with the music note logo. I've seen a few first issues over the years, but the second issue I've only ever seen one copy of. The sleeve on both issues is identical.
That aside, it's fantastic that Jazzman has re-issued this series. These are records that deserve to be owned and played. For my ears this LP, and the others in the series are the pinnacle of UK jazz composition and playing.

praise to everyone who does a decent work on old stuff to keep it in the consciousness of listeners .....
so many estates RUINED the legacy of their artistic relatives expecting completely insane amounts of money, best example is the fondation maeght sitting on outstanding footage of
cecil taylor, sun ra, john cage, la monte young etc. and any effort to make this material avaiable failed or take amougies 1969 - a revelation but no progress in releasing this for
50 years because the frustrated widow of ....... wants 100.000
