Donna Summer ‎– I Feel Love (Siento Amor)

Genre:
Style:
Year:
Notes:
Originally the B-side of "Can't We Just Sit Down (And Talk It Over)", "I Feel Love" caused such a stir that it was replaced as the A-side. "I Feel Love" went on to become a landmark song in disco.

This master includes releases with B-sides other than "Can't We Just Sit Down". Also included are later remix versions of the original 1977 recording of "I Feel Love" (the 1995 re-recording excluded).

"I Feel Love" single masters:
1977 - Can't We Just Sit Down (And Talk It Over) / I Feel Love
1977 - I Feel Love (with B-sides other than "Can't We Just Sit Down") [this]
1977 - I Feel Love / Theme From The Deep (Down, Deep Inside) ('Double A-side' releases)
1995 - I Feel Love (Re-recorded version)

Hiow could one even try to remix a track as iconic as this. Yet Patrick Cowley pulled off the impossible. Impecable new synth riffs and space bleeps and 15 minutes later one knows what its like to be happy in outer space. Of course Moroder, Belotte and Summer gave Cowley the sounds to bounce off in the first place but Cowley really did deliver a miracle that we listen to in awe. Lets not forget too that the Moog is the unsung hero in all this.

Patrick Cowley was one of our synth-whiz dance pioneers, but I am not sure his additions to this song are to my liking, or even if they were necessary. The original mix was perfect and didn't need improvement.

I'm glad to see this is still an in-demand record. I was there on the Space Terrace in Miami at WMC 2002 when Danny Tenaglia dropped this for the first time ever, while Danny Howells was out on the dancefloor with us, Corona in hand, out of his mind. The remix is true to the original while adding a nice bouncy tribal percussive edge. Long live LaDonna Gaines in eternity!

Released at the end of 1977 or the early beginning of 1978 by Patrick Cowley himself; only a handfull were made of this acetate. They were handed out to several DJ's, Casablanca and Disconet. There were two versions: one with a white label and one with the Sunshine Sound label. Both came from Sunshine Sound.
Because of the succes Patrick Cowley also self-released 50 vinyl versions. Check: http://www.discogs.com/label/351699-Not-On-Label-Patrick-Cowley-Self-released

Released by Cowley himself. Handtypes sticker which says ["I Feel Love" (synthesized) 33 1/3 RPM 16.04]. In reality the time is not 16.04 but 16.15 minutes. I taped this from the original using a Technics 1210mk2 turntable. 50 vinl versions were made. How many there are left now is unknown. This original version is slightly longer and slightly different (rougher) to the Disconet / Casablanca versions (which takes 15.45 minutes on 45 RPM). The vinyl versions were handed out bij Cowley (for promotion of his remix) to several DJ's/radiostations (as well as the acetates). This vinyl version matches exactly the acetate version released on the Sunshine Sound Label. There are two independent sources (óne DJ from San Francisco knew Cowley personally) who confirm this story.
n the A-side is etched in the run-out grooves: "6814 and DJ-989A". On the B-side is etched "backing plate - long for side - 300 LPI/30 Min". The B-side has running grooves for about 30 minutes but no sound.
There exists also an exactly the same record but with a slightly different etching on the A-side: "7145 and DJ-999A".
