Seems to be virtually impossible to order this from the big retailers .... as it has the exact same barcode as 'The Country Collection vol. 1". I was trying to get it cheap admittedly. They don't check the titles as it goes out and just go by the barcode. Now I have six copies of The Country Collection vol. 1.
It does have some good tracks on it though - including Johnny Paycheck's 'Georgia In A Jug' as covered by Shockabilly, so it's not all bad.

One of the best old skool albums there is. Donovan Smith steers away from the anthem bashing and delves into the real old skool. 10/10

Pre-dating the predictable oldskool/rave cash-in compilations by a good few years (you know the ones, 'Bombscare', 'I Wanna Give You Devotion', 'Set You Free'), 'Essential Old Skool Hardcore' is one of the very few albums which actually deliver on the promise of the title.

Mixed by veteren DJ, Donovan Bad Boy Smith, who gives each track a good run without ever outstaying it's welcome and picks a true underground selection of oldskool classics. Mostly staying with the more darker and experimental styles, with a smattering of hands-in-the-air anthems thrown in to lighten the tone ('World Champion' 'Jumpin Jack Frost (Untitled AA-Side)' and 'Dancehall Dangerous'). Props go out to the DJ for including classics from Nebula II, Doc Scott, Authorised Riddim, Egyptian Empire, Acen and Dance Conspiracy at a time where such compilations were in very short supply. Pity that it's so rare to come across similar collections on CD nowadays.
