This is a properly well-balanced album. It's doubtful Dusky would have scored help from Polydor if they didn't have a strong offering. I'd really hoped for 12"s or two-part 12"s of the singles to have access to those mixes other than that hand-stamped 12" or the lossless downloads that ended up being converted to CD-R. Either way, 'Outer' is a strong example of Dusky's range and ability to let you feel differnt moods throughout. It puts you in touch with so many players (the artists on the album). Let it show you what Dusky is capable of, then jump into the whole 17 Steps catalogue.

Thankfully Dusky DO know how to make an album, as we saw when they blew everyone away with the debut album. What an incredible introduction of new alias and direction. They set themselves high standard to match with this record. The sound has really grown in a whole new direction since then and I have to say it's been great. Dusky is a massive success story, uniting so many different genres and music lovers together and I think this album is an amalgamation of that. Few tracks i'm not feeling on this record, but so many other gems throughout. Fantastic artwork aswel. Overall its a great release - 7.7/10

Most disappointing record of 2016 unfortunately. I've loved many Dusky 12" but it just doesn't work over 12 tracks. And the collaborations are especially egregious. Every time the Wiley track comes on, I race to the turntable to skip it. It's just jarring. The Numan track isn't much better. A shame - but not everyone can make an album
