The real pleasure with Hanson is this kind of simple beauty he's evoking in every projects, from the somewhat "straight electro" of E.R.P. to the deepness of his Convextion alias (although i do think they're somehow melting together, not that this is a problem...).

I found this record very rewarding as long as every tracks give you little details so unexpected you're literally getting goosebump (and to me the best moment of this album is from 6:17 on Noetic when a single snare beat appears between the spacey pads...then the track comeback to its main riff...so simple, so effective).

Now i'm just hoping the reborn Down Low Music will bring us back the first Convextion album - and we should be fine then :)

This is an absolutely outstanding record. Late to the party but only came across E.R.P. last year and this album has become an instant favourite. cannot rate it highly enough! Phenomenal. The copy I got is a black vinyl pressing and I can confirm that it is perfectly silent. zero surface noise, as clear a pressing as I could hope for.

Sometimes an album has a singular moment. On the famed Voices From The Lake album for example, it was 5:50 in "Twins In Virgo" when the warm bass line dropped. On this album its "Noetic" when the big fat speaker-testing lead comes in at the 1 minute marker. I get a head rush every time. Alien civilizations will have weird, creepy nose-hole sex with this track playing in the background.

A lot of surface noise going on, not just on C1 but through out the entire pressing for me. Even after a decent clean, I will clean again and see if it improves.......

****Update. After a clean using a vacuum RCM and a play and then a second clean most of the minor noise is gone from the other tracks however C1 is still pretty bad and obviously a pressing fault which wasn't picked up on, pretty disappointing to be honest.

I think a few of these tracks are from his 2006/2008 live sets Live In London April 30th 2006 & Live In Manchester April 25th 2008.

Absolutely love this album but does anyone else hear crackle and pops on Remembrance & Burning Question? I just listened to a brand new copy and hearing this is rather odd since his productions are always super clean. Cant tell if this is deliberate or bad mastering/pressing.

lol why was my comment removed?
I just wanna say, again, that I was waiting for this record for a very long time; been listening to it and savouring it lately. One can say that it's pretty simple but you better do something simple really good than try to overcomplicate to impress. I've always adored Gerard for his ability to create such a retro/futuristic, warm/detached atmosphere, his music's got everything.

Well, this is an enjoyable album, but which brings nothing new on the table compared to his former releases. Evoked Potentials 1/3, or Pith, for example, were a lot more involving. Last Convextion album was better also.
Here, all the melodies sound the same, and most of the sounds are generic (snares, kicks...)
The A-side is the best, but overall I am disappointed (expectations were high).

Eight productions of sheer genius. Inventive. full of depth. This long player is essential.
