Very good music but the sound quality is poor. .

There is something not good with the clarity of the sound. Sounds a bit "deaf" and you have to EQ it in order to fix it when mixed with other tracks. It's a shame for such a great production from E.R.P.

Track titles and artwork paints a wonderful picture of spooky, beautiful and distant landscapes. This is ERP doing his thing in classic style; there are synth patches used that have featured on other ERP tracks and the bass is the deep pulse that runs throughout the back catalogue. Ice Mine sounds like the soundtrack to Hal finally shutting down in the cold void of space. There are no shocks here but there is a lot to be said for gently toying with a unique signature sound.

This has received zero attention in the music press, I presume its not experimental enough for today's writers and critics. Whilst it is classic electro and therefore neither cutting edge nor (lets face it) especially original it is entirely idiosyncratic of the work of E.R.P. who inhabits his own particular galaxy within the electro cosmos.

The music carries greater dancefloor weight than 2018's 'Afterimage', with several electro bangers mixing it up with the more ambient pieces. As an album its well balanced, with both a narrative structure and a considered sonic flow. There are moments of considerable beauty where you can do very little other than float in the ethereal beauty of it all. As noted, these moments are off-set with harder material which could quite easily sit in a peak time set, whilst retaining the somewhat nebulous E.R.P. sound. As to be expected the production quality is fantastic: the synths shimmer and the bass has a wonderful, rich low end pressure that would make your bones hum on a club rig.

I actually prefer this to Afterimage, seeing it as a better balanced release. It won't win any points for conceptual ideation or rhythmic innovation, but as music to be enjoyed rather than studied it is phenomenal. If you enjoy E.R.P. then you will most likely love this, quite simply no one does electro quite like Gerard Hanson.
