Like so many IDM producers, EU gets lost in the clutter and forgets about the music. Random noises are easy for anyone to make, and perhaps that's the reason so many of the worst producers have gravitated towards the IDM style. This love of random junk has made the IDM "genre" almost impossible to traverse--and totally unworth the effort for the casual listener. But there are gems in the cesspool of IDM, luckily. Unfortunately this release is far from being one of them.

The positive of this release is that "Srez" is half of a fantastic song--truly beautiful and enchanting--until it devolves into a senseless noisy mess that doesn't even bother being interesting or compelling like the noisy goodness that is Aphex Twin's "Ventolin." "Srez" is quite lovely for about 3 minutes though, so I'm going to make a short edited version for myself so I can listen to it without the last few minutes of tacked-on garbage noises.

"Wienn" on the other hand is more straightforward than the flipside; it is mediocre right from the start and never progresses beyond that. It has no heart, no soul, and no raison d'etre.

If it weren't for the few minutes of beauty that makes up the first half of "Srez," I'd say this is a totally worthless release. As it is, it's certainly not worth buying given that you only get .5 good tracks out of 2.
