This is a great album.......I mean GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Do you like the Stooges, late '60's early-mid '70's Alice Cooper, the Dogs, the Mc5???? .....Brit punk and other Detroit punk, garage, noise rock forgotten greats, say Death or Fijid Pink.....then you will love Easy Action. Vocalist, John Brannon is a true ROCK 'N' ROLL soldier, albeit bruised, battered and beaten. He was a major part of the DIY hard core movement of the late '70's early '80's and in the eyes of the learned, the leader of one of the greatest Indie Rock bands ever.......the Laughing Hyenas. ....RIP Larissa..... He can howl, growl and croon with anyone. His self distorted vocals can almost make the audience's vocal cords bleed and then shred like a freshly ruptured achiles tendon. It brings a smile to my face every time I see 'em live and it's been many many times in Lansing, MI and also at the now almost legendary Magic Stick in Detroit. Harold, the guitarist is FANTASTIC!!!! Once at Mac's, in Lansing, MI, his playing was so loud, rude and obnoxious I witnessed him clear out half the crowd of maybe 100 people before they even started the third song. Keep in mind Lansing is probably the lamest town in terms of Rock 'n' Roll in America and most other things as well but that's another story not an album review. Everyone that could handle it stayed and were converted the church of the Almighty EaSY AcTioN. The two songs that cleared 'em out were Do it Cuz I Can and Do or Die. These two songs alone have more grit, gravel and energy than virtually every other song thats gotten regular airplay over the last 25 years combined. I mean they are ridiculous!!!!...enough said. What's the Deal, You and Me and Twenty-One start the album off really nice, very rough and at times sad but truely great songs. The fourth song Do or Die I already mentioned. The fifth cut is like Love it to Death era Cooper with a splash of British Glam Rock in the Chorus. It's just tremendous. Track 6, Do it Cuz I Can, I already mentioned as well. Tracks 7 - 9 are very good but clearly the weakest on the album. Track 10 is a cover of Roxy Music's If There is Something. This track is so good it blows the original out of the water and blew my mind the first time and every time since that I've heard it and I love Roxy Music. ....and oh yeah I don't smile often.
