This is an album that I would pop in the cd player if I still lived in Detroit and it was a long day at work with my ass dragging behind me all the way home or someone broke the window out of my car to get my change and sunglasses.

A truly amazing album - classic Technosoul from the often overlooked fourth originator of Detroit Techno, Eddie Fowlkes.

Mostly straight 4-to-da-floor and a few funky broken beat tracks which all - yes, all! - work stunningly well on the floor. Deep, warm, driving stuff. Solid studio production, too. This man definitely knows what he's doing - after all, he's been doing it for quite a long time now!

Fowlkes cleverly creates tension by slowly building up the tracks by layering percussive elements almost in a "Wild Pitch" style (many times including those notorious and neverending high pitched string sounds to add some extra drama). Some decent Acid basslines pop up from time to time, too. As a contrast, he throws in crazy breaks, answering machine messages, futuristic noises, soulful melodies and perfect arrangement twists.

Whether you're into House or Techno - consider this one as a strong candidate to become the next secret weapon in your bag. Recommended!
