"Into the Dark Forest is one of those albums that lingers long after you have stopped listening to its moody yet enchanting tracks. The album is heavily based around synthesizers and atmospheres, and as such holds quite an archaic synthetic sound that is similar to early Mortiis, Cernunnos Woods and early Summoning. The music does a fine job in conjuring up images of misty enchanted forests and eerie mountains, and contains a range of so many different compositions that no song ever feels stretched or repeated which sometimes is the case with music based on old synths. However, what really differentiates Elffor from other black ambient acts is the balancing between primal growling, majestic atmospheres and the black core that binds it all together."
