After a wonderful transcendental intro [Spiritual Transgression}, the music's energy drop's off a bit and after the first break, drop's further. Energy Gate has a nice rich sound and a great kick, but for me, the song try's to lift off, but it never really quite happens. Might be okay for a bridge song to something like Miranda who would kick it up a notch from this with the same kick..

A fabulous ep! These are amongst Encens' best tracks. "Spiritual Transgression" is outstanding - melancholic droning melodies like whalesong but uplifting nevertheless, great shifting bass lines, haunting samples - a track with epic atmosphere. "Energy Gate" is not much lesser - an unforgettable simple melody drives it along with irrisistible momentum. Of note is also the really beautiful copper on black sleeve and label - probably Koyote Records' classiest production. ~*~
