In the early 90's there was an album side 'DJ Mix' with this and other songs. It would play about 20 or more minutes. Does anyone remember what album that was?

Probably no song represents the beginning of the Rave movement here in the states as much this song and probably the 808 State tracks. An amazing flow of sounds and great samples.

I heard a drum and bass remix of this song around the early 2000s I think. I have been looking for it ever since. Does anyone have any ideas?

I lost this record a couple of years ago so I can't look at the credits/liner notes on it but I recently heard Love Action by Human League. It seems there are samples from it on Spice. Anyone else catch that?

The J. Saul Kane version sounds very much like tech-step drum and bass except this is 1990 not 1995!
I think this beat was used on most tracks of that era, very much ahead of its time before producers tried different non formulaic things.
No surprise that this was the same producer behind you see me in 3d - bomb the bass.

The sound effect that concludes the A side is 'Sutekh Time Tunnel' from BBC Sound Effects Number 19: Doctor Who Sound Effects (1978). The innermost groove is circular so that the last few seconds of the sound effect play endlessly until the needle is lifted from the record.

Beyond the clever samples and the nice use of them, this record is a beautiful example of how to put people in motion the electro way : the use of a breakbeat (sample?) that constantly stop and go makes anyone feeling the urge to start moving like a robots. Pure electro-house.

Spice (Original Mix With Notes) This track was one of the first to influence me to get into the techno music scene, I specially like the sample "the spice must flow" and your triggering effects, the track is very abstract and dark, super classic track.
