Music was actually almost exclusively produced by Marley Marl but as he explains here, he gave Eric B the producer credit to help him get his career going. There's another video with MC Shan where he explains that Marley Marl wasn't exactly taken with Rakim's style so he didn't want to put his name on the production - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvob_fcrRZs

"Eric B is President" uses the break found on "The Champ" (Pama Records) by The Mohawks.
The same break is used by KRS One on "Step into a World" and "Entropy" by DJ Shadow, amongst others.
