Standards are an excuse for the lack of ideas. The Hive Itself A Tea Cup: is a ghostly recording. And without a standard to work with, Eric Wallack, well know slow acoustic folk man from Ohio, United States; has been working for years to create a very large and magical body of work. Out of the conventional folk song, he made an entire universe of forms and changing shapes within the few minutes surrounding his very personal and intimate (also intimidating) EP. In the middle of 2007, Eric got in touch with Françoiz Coballa, who soon after discovering each other music, started to work pare rally on works inspired by the other. Françoiz Coballa died in October of 2008 at the age of 18 and never listened to the creation of his partner. But the material lives as a strong and direct as the very faithful reproduction of Eric’s own and raw sound that is in every movement within the pieces of a small album. A small EP with the intentions and the felling of millions of forms. “The Hive Itself A Tea Cup”.
