referencing Escort, CD, Album, Dig, ESCRTLP1
Having followed ESCORT beginning with their debut 12" back in 2006, "Starlight", I was an instant fan. A slew of great 12" releases followed, including the Dr. Buzzard influenced "Love in Indigo".
Then in 2011, Escort released their debut LP, which included all their previous singles, and some new tracks.
However, all the old songs were much shorter, and with a different vocalist!! WHY?
The new tracks also signaled a more commercial approach to disco, which bewildered me a bit, as Escort seemed to have lost their funky, classic, underground-disco edge.
Their best work were their early 12" releases, especially because vocalist Zena Kitt had such a unique voice, which perfectly suited the material.
