AN ORIGINAL CLASSIC SOUL ALBUM - they call it now. You see we have a war between black and white stronger than never ever before. No more good old remarks like -Discos have opened in old warehouses, steakrestaurants, unused hotel ballrooms and singles bars... any place you couldstick a ceiling full of flashing, colored lights, a mirrored ball, twoturntables, a battery of speakers, a mixer and a DJ-. Now. Four star for remastering (I will gladly gave away plus 1 star more if Wilder not cut Hi-Res down from the masters). Three star for liner notes by David Nathan - here we go again - "disco which had its roots in the underground black gay clubs of NY and the East Coast". It seems that someone trying hard to save those last gay-bar member survivers and mixed it up with casual nowadays young listeners to gave them a lesson in particular music-time period!!!??? And then Nathan mentioned all kinds of U. S. mainstream: Motown, "Girl You Need A change Of Mind", Gamble & Huff's, "Rock The Boat", Tom Moulton, Love Unlimited Orchestra, "Soul Makossa", e. t. c., call it "indeed international- consciousness" and of course little something about discotheque itself (" taken from the French "discotheque," which actually originated in the '40 in occupied France as a name for nightclubs where members of the French resistance would meet to dance to jazz and swing, dances banned by Nazis). Not a word about jews though)))
