When signing to FFRR/London they were paid a £75,000 advance for this album. Sheigra is named after the isolated cottage where the tracks were written.

Ive always had the feeling that Finitribe never had the respect and acknowledgement they deserved. After a somewhat ignored Industrial album, an inovative house-like "...10k" and partially successful "an unexpected groovy treat", 1995 seen the birth of one of the most great and underrated pieces of electronic music of the 90's. The production is incredibly detailed (which already was before) and the sound engulfs you with its incredible textures and pads (something that happened many times already in previous releases). So many genres are compressed in this album. I can hear traces of Goa Trance, of Ambient, of IDM, of Techno, House, Synth Pop blended peacefully together in a way only Finitribe can blend, with production values that can easily top Orbital, Code, Leftfield, Shamen, Sabres of Paradise or Beloved's most emotional and inspired moments.

Finitribe's second album of more-or-less mainstream pop-dance music, this wasn't as popular as 'An Unexpected Groovy Treat', which wasn't particularly popular anyway. The first track, 'Dark', was played a few times on radio one, but it came and went without a trace. Which is a shame, because it's ultra-slick, well-made mid-90s dance music, along similar lines to Jam and Spoon and so forth. Mostly the tracks blend into each other, although 'Catch the Whistle' makes clever use of an X-files style whistling noise, and 'Dark' has a striking but where the entire mix is gated away for a split-second or so, as with Garbarge's 'Supervixen'. After this the group went away for a couple of years before re-emerging as a quasi-Bristolian intelligent drum'n'bass act, a few months too late, and that was that for Finitribe.

Finitribe (also recording as Fini Tribe) put the dancefloor first while making this awesome release. With this offering, their transition from industrial dance to techno was fully realized. The whole CD is a trance techno feast for the ears (check out 'Dark' and 'Mushroom Shaped') although other tracks like 'Truth' and 'We Have Come' have a more Euro/Garage feel. It even dips into ambient ('Shiegra 5'). In addition, the CD was sonically enhanced and sounds amazing thru headphones. The layers of synth washes are full and rich.

Finitribe decided to record in a similar fashion while switching to a more dubby sound for their 1998 follow-up 'Sleazy Listening'.
