A crafty, well executed tribal groover of a record! Four tracks packed with repetitive loops and rapid tribal percussion, goes with almost anything european from the past decade. Relies less on synth experimentation found on some earlier and more challenging Drumcode releases (DC04, DC05, DC08, DC10 to name a few), but instead delivers gravy for the clubs.
Not exactly something to blow your mind to an adjacent universe, however these slick, refined productions were state of the art techno about a decade ago, and many crowds went berserk to this sound.
At times it sounds like something more suitable for Drumcode's offspring, Code Red, due to a lighter sound, Almquist does the job well regardless, despite not delivering anything remarkable, something I very often missed in Drumcode's later catalog.
Adequate - yes, and it will just about do the trick, although this is one of those records which just doesn't sit all that well on its own.
Best track is A1, due to those amazing background drum claps and the cool hip hop "get down!" sample.
