Remixes of "Rot" (red), the first Freiland 12" from 1998, a minimal techno record that emptied any dancefloor whenever and whereever I played it over the last years, but still a great record and one of my favourites from Wolfgang Voigt. The remixes though are mostly uninspired and sound like the usual thing you expect from the guys, nothing inventive or surprising about it. The shorter versions of the original tracks (A3, B3) are particularly unnecessary. One gem there is though: the excellent and very experimental remix by Wendy Gondeln on B1, pimping the previously unreleased "Rot 4" with an avantgarde violin played ravishingly wild, very dissonant but extremely groovy, accompanied by some funky jazz organ chords. Much too short (1 min 59), but really amazing. More of this please!
