"Live Target" is a compilation of live tracks taken from stereo soundboard tapes recorded mainly during the 1991 "Tyranny Tour", and maybe the 1989 "Front By Front Tour".
Most of the tracks' locations are unidentified, with the exception of "Rhythm Of Time" (Biskuithalle, Bonn, March 26, 1991), "DSM 123 & Moldavia" (Zeleste, Barcelona, May 18, 1991) and "Punish Your Machine" (Bogart's, Cincinnati, September 13, 1991).
This compilation includes some rare tracks that were played during the 1991 tour (“Don’t Crash”, “Circling Overland”).
More than 2 minutes of the introduction to “Rhythm Of Time” are edited out at the start of the track,
and the "Intro + Circling Overland" is taken from a mono soundboard recording.

Rumoured to be a bootleg (latterly) acknowledged at the time by the band, this CD was released with some kind of permission (due to the use of various soundboard tapes that are clearly processed) and was distributed by the official fanclub “Transmission 242” (like the 12:09:22:05 Tyranny Live or the Re:Bootleg 1 releases) and various European distributors.
The full story was included in the December 1992 issue of the "Transmission 242" fanzine.

The CD was limited to 5000 copies on jewel case with a 4-page booklet, and at least two different matrix numbers are known to exist.

An unofficial cassette version was reissued in 2008.

This is a fantastic recording/performance. However, it loses a star for its mix. It's very thin sounding. Luckily, some basic broadband EQ by the end listener fixes it no problem: just fatten up those lows/low-mids and you'll be golden.

As much as I truly love Front 242's music on studio albums, 'Live Target' was quite a flop showing them more of demonstrating their retrospective list of songs in plain spectacularity - technical equipment undoubtedly sounds expensive. That's all there is to it. The grooves would have seemed right if only the vocalist isn't too much into 'Come On!', 'Yeah!' and 'Can You Feel It?' type of paroles to lift up the audience... Don't know about the official variant 'Live Code' but this one was quite an exhausting experience listening to.

The most officially distributed bootleg I've seen around! I bought it in a Fnac Outlet in Paris, where it was sold among all the others official releases. Sound is excellent, and this is a great snapshot of their 91 tour ("Tragedy For You" period). Besidse, is it rational or emotional ?, but I always thought it was a better live than the one released a year later, officialy this time (Live Code).
