This record is really rare. I picked it up before it had been put on the shop floor in Replay records in Bristol. And have rarely seen it since. It is a one sided 10” that contains a drum and bass remix of Fugee la by Goldie. Unlike other Fugees drum and bass remixes, Goldie actually cleared the sample.
I like the record because it sounds different to usual d&b hip hop remixes. The drums are experimental, jerky and heavily effected. The bass line isn’t that memorable, but is a nice low frequency. A nice touch is Goldie using an effect which he calls snakeing, where he pans the vocal of Lauren Hill saying “left right” to the left and right speaker. There is also a dark piano sample that gives the track a under lying menace.
