The mastering sounds pretty good but it definitely has some substantial surface noise, especially noticeable on the title track.

I bought this release (Catalogue number: SEW 002, matrices 54320 1A1 / 1B1 SEW 002) after having read the previous reviews, and can confirm that it sounds good. A few crackles as noted earlier in the thread, but really something that will not bother the majority of people. I'm happy to own this.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here on discogs over the variable quality of the many reissues of this album. I have this exact reissue (Catalogue number: SEW 002, matrices 54320 1A1 / 1B1 SEW 002) and I can say with certainty that it sounds excellent. It's worth remembering that this is a pretty rough and ready recording to begin with, so it's never going to be up to MOFI standards of sound quality. This version is certainly as good as the '90s CD I used to own (which sounded great in my opinion), so I'm completely happy with the sound quality of this vinyl pressing. There's no distortion that isn't innate to the recording and the pressing quality is pretty solid as well. There's a few crackles and the odd pop, but nothing too problematic in my opinion. Considering the low price on this version, I'd definitely recommend it. The sleeve isn't great quality but it does the job.

I am very happy with the sound and look of this LP. I'm not an engineer, but based on what I've read, DMM yields a brighter record with less surface noise. However, according to what I've read, the grooves on lacquers are able to be cut deeper than DMM, which results in more low-end output from lacquer cuts. Some people prefer the sound of lacquer-cut LPs, although I imagine it would depend on the album. A quick Google search will explain the difference better than I can.

That being said, I was happy to find this LP and think it sounds great on my system!

Was hoping for clarification: UPC codes weren't introduced until 1974 - this 1971 pressing seems to have one. Anything special to note here or am I crazy? I have this and it's driving me bonkers trying to figure it out!

Weird pressing, the matrix on my copy just bought from Amazon matches this one perfectly but it's a new reissue?
