Longtime Sven Vath collaborator Ralf Hildenbeutel and one-third of the Baked Beans, Gottfried Tollmann, collaborate on the aptly named Tollmannhildenbeutel, another fine ambient work on the Recycle or Die label. “Today It’s Business” emphasizes the ethnic percussion before easing into some long, moody synth lines, while “One of My Very Best Friends” sounds like that friend has just died. And despite its title, “It’s A Hornbill” has neither nothing vaguely organic about it (a hornbill is a bird species, by the way). “Mimi’s French Dog” throws in a loping trip-hop beat that disappears halfway through, then reappears about a minute until the end for a wiggy, creepy experience. And the final track, “The Flight Was Yesterday,” drifts slowly, like a lost kitten. This album is worth looking into.
