Around the time Amy Winehouse blew up, record companies started scouting several new Amy clones. You can look at it quite cynically and say that Winehouse was about to die soon and they needed a new one. Gabriella Cilmi had the same type of voice and was only 17 when "Sweet About Me" was released and it was a fairly decent track. It is noted that this was way before this track got it's big promotion thanks to being on the Rexona ads.

But I heard the remixes before the original and I heard the "Truth & Soul Mix" which was not that different from the original, but none of the versions match up to a true master's version. Matthew Herbert delivers a brilliant subdued remix which keeps the blues influence from the original but expands on it. Herbert lays down a simple groove and works some piano chords for the basis and then slowly grows the track in and highlights the bridges with vibes and the hook with an subtle epic feel.

It's a really well made remix and I want to give a big ups to Patrick HH who introduced this via a mix here on discogs where he played the instrumental and got me hooked on this to this date. I still bust it out in sets and it goes down brilliantly.
