According to Kris Need's George Clinton bio, the track was written by Garry "Diaper Man" Shider and recently recruited keyboard player David Spradley. Spradley laid down the track in the studio, then George entered the studio looking for a track strung out after a heavy session of whatever his drug of choice at the time was. According to Spradley...

"He couldn't find the downbeat. He couldn't even find the mic, we had to show him where it was, then he just went ahead and did it. But that's how his rhythms are the way they are. George laid it down the way it is on the record, then Garry threw in the background A-to-mic Dooooog..."

When George returned the next day, he wanted his part fixed up, Gary said the track was finished.. "We done sang all over you!" And that was that.
In typically chaotic and unpredictable fashion another groundbreaking P-Funk classic was born and music was never quite the same again.

BTW P-Funk fans: I have here the above promo release, only with the entire label stuck on after the disc was pressed- meaning slight bubbling & no inner circle in the label. Etchings: L 29040 (Greg Lee??) SPRO- 9901- 98593-B G-1 / G-2. Its either a bootleg or an official, yet slap dash, DJ knock-up rush job. Sounds official though, i.e well mastered & cut loud & proud. Only thing is, one side has a pressing flaw right at the intro, the other plays perfectly. No biggie as it's the same track on both sides. If anyone 'nose' anything about it's origins, let me nose!!!!

Remember playing this childhood tune somewhere early 00's, and some girl came over saying 'what the f*** is this sh**? They just ripped off Snoop Dog!!!!' I couldn't hide my disgust, try as I might, so I swerved option No. 1 (Turntable to head connect) and went for the more diplomatic option No. 2: 'Ha, deluded child, they didn't rip off Snoop- they ripped off Dre' ! Duh... ;)

Producer Ted Currier together with the Funk-man himself created a monster in 1982! This record was the blueprint for a lot of Hip Hop/Electro and yes, even Techno-records. Before this release, Clinton was still on the live-instruments tip. With this one he goes electronic and does it funk ? Hell yeah !! Beautifull vocal harmonies and arrangements too. Classic !
