I am a fan of George Duke. In fact, I have various albums of his including multiple collaborations with other artists, such as Stanley Clark. This particular album is my favorite. It is a combination of Jazz, Funk and Brazilian music. Therefore, it is a musical collaboration between George's band and a select group of Brazilian musicians. Among them are Airto and Milton Nascimento. Does anything else need to be said about the quality and greatness of this album?

Bought this when I was really into Fusion and didn't care much for Brazilian styles. Now I'm really into Bossanova etc but couldn't care less about Fusion. I still like about half the album. If you are either way inclined and have an open mind you should get something out of this album. Wouldn't pay much more than £5 though.

The sound difference between this and the Dutch print is ridiculously incredible...much more "down to earth"-even though the title track "Brazilian Love Affair isn't included on this pressing"....

Probably one of the very best, and certainly one of the most popular records by George Duke. Started by the epic 7-minute title track which sets the pace with a 4-bar Samba percussion intro and leaves the average A-B-A-B scheme to go wild in a series of smokin' hot instrumental funk parts, the album has it all from relaxed and jazzy bossa nova to more traditional folk music tunes to George Duke's signature funk tracks. As always, George's voice and multi-layered harmony vocals, talking turns with a bunch of very talented Brazilian singers, make the music soar. One of my all-time favorites and one of 10 albums to take to the desert island.

Just as an addendum, I forgot to add that side B is absolute fire. Side A is ok, but it's like Duke started recording early and in a grump. And the record picks up as his day goes by, with the denoument coming on tracks 6 and 8 when he absolutely goes off in some haze of drink and vibe.
