"East St. Louis is in Illinois... right on the banks of the Mississippi river, across from St. Louis, Missouri. it is a sprawling, comfortable warm town where the Blues was reaching its pinnacle in the 1930's along with the sister city across the river. this was the stomping-ground of such greats as Walter Davis, Robert Nighthawk and Big Joe Williams, and a center for the development of the unique St. Louis Blues sound. this is the home of George & Ethel McCoy, and they are not letting the Blues die in East St.Louis" (from the liner notes) ..all-acoustic strummin' w/either male or femme lead-voice w/help from friends on bass can, rub- board & additional guitar; renditions of "juanita stomp" (Big Joe Williams), "meningitis blues" ...written by Memphis Minnie, who by the way is the aunt of George & Ethel;
