George McCrae ‎– Rock Your Baby

Notes:
"Rock Your Baby" is a popular song by George McCrae. Written and produced by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch of KC and the Sunshine Band, "Rock Your Baby" was one of the landmark recordings of early disco music. A massive international hit, the song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the United States, spending two weeks at the top in July 1974, number one on the R&B singles chart, and repeating the feat on the UK singles chart, spending three weeks at the top of the chart in July 1974. It is one of the fewer than thirty all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) copies worldwide.

The backing track for the record had been recorded in 45 minutes as a demo, and featured guitarist Jerome Smith of KC and the Sunshine Band. The track was not originally intended for McCrae, but he happened to be in the studio, added a vocal, and the resultant combination of infectious rhythm and falsetto vocals made it a hit.

Note that image for the A side has now had additional text "taken from the LP Rock Your Baby". Is this bluff or true

Sealed in shrinkwrap unable to play or hear this dodgy bootleg is no confirmation of what's in the grooves at all. PLAY IT and then SAY IT. this item has at the moment ZERO CRED.

Note that the B side is an alleged 2:45 album filler track. what a waste of groove space and daft choice of a padding track

Had the B side been I ain't Lying or even Take This Love Of Mine with vocal mixes then cut/chop mixed into the backing track for a longer version then this 100% add to the appeal.

No shop worth it's salt would take any copies of the above on spec without first hearing the wares.

How many shops were scammed with Stevie Wonder Isn't She Lovely 12" UK Motown label boot "I Wish" I knew.

To anyone seeking this First physically hold one, open it, inspect it, then play it, then re-sleeve it, then your choice: Pay OR walk away

WARNING! Unless the seller has actually physically played this fake/bootleg (NOT "unofficial" whatever that means ?) and can honestly confirm that the lead A side track is BOTH "Rock Your Baby" AND the original 1974 full mix from the album of the same name (the original cuts from the vocal over dub to the instrumental backing in a crude fade and cut together edit).

Beaware of the vile remix done in the 80s alarmingly done by Paul Hardcastle with odd title addition name of "Frankfurt Mix". Comissoned by CBS but not released on TK (it's a floor clearer not filler Hardcastle clearly did this just for the money, its really seriously awful)

So buyer beware, even (when you think about it) the text printed on the labels actually confirms NOTHING except that it's a fake! It is for the seller to confirm what has been pressed into a spiral groove, Insist that the tracks are played (the mint/unplayed argument and the factory sealed argument do NOT wash or can apply in this case) Get it opened and get it checked sonically on a turn table by the seller.

Any professional and genuine seller will without question comply and check the actuals including making sure its the original 1974 album mix. (To all Sellers if you do not know what the Frankfurt mix sounds like....download and hear, and then the original).

YOU the buyer have a legal right to know exactly what you are paying for and not be ripped off! The fake/boot sent tome was not "Rock Your Baby" the visual alarm was the mis-spellt George Mrae artist credit!

Buyer beware, $eller no excuses.

Not 100% sure IF this naughty but nice Boot exists yet to find OR receive a physical copy ! Why???

Note that the TD DISCO USA 12" from 1978 that has the cat # that has been foolishly given by the fakers for this TKD 119 (You Got) My Love, etc etc is not only a vile and awful album fodder/filler throw away track a floor clearer not filler!

This ghastly 12 has also been given a fake pressing by the Euro counterfitters (no doubt Italy OR Netherlands) and is very distinguishable from the 16 year old original!!! (Only the company die-cut sleeve matches 100% even is a better finish than the USA printed originals! so be aware! Be aware that people who have NO buisness selling records are shipping this awful boot implying that its "Rock Your Baby" ONLY buy Rock Your Baby from a shop where you can both "C" it and then hear it! Don't get done or conned!

1. The text layout is not as USA TK used and had printed on their 12" singles
2. The Counterfitters can't even spell McCrae's name: McRAE! it's so easy to "C" (see/spot) sorry about the pun

On a + side:-

Other Euro Counterfit/fakes that are truly excellent include :-

Tavares "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" USA Capitol target red label promo (USA 12" promo only)

Barry White "Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up (Full album version)" USA 20th C. Search lights label (never released)

The Stylistics "People Make The World Go Round (Full album version" USA Avco (never released)

Abba "Dancing Queen" USA Atlantic Yellow Green text Disco label" (USA 12" promo only one sided)

The Miracles "Love Machine (full album version) USA Tamla Promo black text on white ( USA 12" promo only)

Eddie Kendricks "Keep On Trucking" (Full album version) USA Tamla Yellow with brown logo black text (never released, however in the late 1990's a retro 12" on the UK 12's label green with a lovely bar code was released, naturally it just does not cut the mustard to the look and placement onf the turntable platter of this glorious must have fake).

Let's hope more really good and accurate in detail ones come along esp 12" full versions of tracks that just never happened in this format and were normally spread over two sides of a 7" or you had to buy the expensive album!

I can think of quite a list of would love to have on 12" full versions and naturally in stereo of 7" singles from the 60s and 70s
that were edited or cut over two sides:-

1. The McCoys Hang On Sloopy (full version with edited verse and in Stereo) Either a USA Bang Label or a UK Immediate
Or UK Decca London facimilly

2. Barry White "Can't Get Enough" (Full original album mix edited with the 7" instrumental Just Not Enough) c/w "You're The First, The Last etc (full original album version with fade-in-build spoken intro again mixed with the 7" instrumental More Than Anything) USA 20th C "Disco Label"

3. Love Unlimited Orchestra "Loves Theme" (Full instrumental album version from Rhapsody In White with the guitar break) c/w Love Unlimited "Love's Theme" (full vocal mix from the In Heat Album) USA 20th C Disco label.

4. Love Unlimited "It May Be Winter Outside" (full album version from Love Unlimited album, with repeated intro and flute break) c/w "I Belong To You" (full album version from In Heat album + edited to unique Germany Philips 7" instrumental "To You and Just You Alone"

5. George Benson "This Masqurade" c/w/ "Affermation (full versions from the Breezing album) UK Warner Brothers Burbank Palm Trees promo label and a created SAM number.

6. Martha & The Vandellas "Heatwave" (Full stereo unedited version with long ending and extra vocals) c/w "Jimmy Mack" 2010 first time stereo mix of the only mono single version/ bonus + "Jimmy Mack" (jazzy slower piano stereo version from the UK Tamla Motown EMI album Greatest Hits) UK $tateside or Tamla-Motown labels or one of each!

7. Stevie Wonder "Boogie On Reggae Woman" (full album version) c/w " Isn't She Lovely" (full album version) USA Tamla yellow - brown logo labels (so so naughty but sooooooooooooooooo nice!)

8. People's Choice " Moving In All Directions" (full album version + 7% speeded up) c/w "Jam Jam Jam (all night long" (full album version) USA Philadelphia Int - TSOP labels (White and sky blue with Philadelphia sky line)

9. Isley Brothers "That Lady" (full un-edited shock ending original album version from 3+3 feat. That Lady) c/w "Harvest For The World" (full un-edited natural ending album version) USA Epic original Yellow labels with giroscope markings (note that BOTH these tracks have had a UK CBS-Epic blue label yellow script text 12" release, sadly TL was pre-faded before the fuzz guitar shock ending and HFTW is edited and the natural ending is faded so this lovely 12 would be new and a great disc to have>>>> to have TL full shock ending and not immediately cut into "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" is a dream from a DJ's point of view!)

10. Stevie Wonder "Another Star" (full album version) cw "Fingertips" (full and un edited or faded version with MC Intro and actual ending with clapping and MC in true stereo) USA Tamla Yellow with Brown logo and globes ! Penny Farthing die-cut sleeve too!

Just some ideas and 10 dreams and massive sellers.

This was George McCrae's first UK hit which reached No.1 in the chart and stayed there for 3 weeks during July and August 1974.

"Woman, take me in your arms, love me baby" is a well known lyric, this tune has been used on many movies and advertisments.

The B-Side (Pt.2) is more of an instrumental version.
