The first side is in the same format as "Pieces of a Man" but in pure musical terms the songs aren't as strong as the previous album. The second half reverts to the spoken word format used on "Small Talk at 125th and Lenox." The lyrics are thoughtful and I guess the album is still interesting from a political/historical point of view to some people.
