The 'If you could read my mind' album was always going to be tough to follow but this remains a really solid album. Hardly a duff song here as Lightfoot headed to Nashville to capture the spirit of the early country flavour across his own broadly folk style. It's not a country album but the influence is clear. Classics here 'Miguel' ( a nod to Marty Robbins), 'Talking in your sleep' and 'Ten Degrees' spring to mind. A bold step by GL and it works. Early US pressings seem to sound the best.
