To me, this album will always mark the moment in time that the lines between pure beatsmithing and trashy bass music became blurred for the once clairvoyant Gramatik. His vision and execution were superb on the Street Bangerz series, and he was able to put out track after track of pure instrumental gold.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a self-proclaimed bass addict. I just don't like the cheese and sleaze that can easily come with the sound. Gramatik's foray into this exact cheese and sleaze completely turned me off from the work he is pursuing today; I tried to give his new stuff a chance, and it really broke my heart, but I just couldn't do it. The beginnings of his dark & disturbing path can be heard in the guttural synths and really just terrible gangster-esque melodies. Still, the soulful and diverse sampling that defined the old Gramatik shines through these dark patches and salvages many of the songs on the album. Please come back to us in your true form Gramatik - I promise that we will be waiting for your revival.
