A good testimony of its times, and proof that behind the wizard's tricks beats a sensitive heart: this EP shows Dave Clarke on a full emotional Detroit techno effect, sounding like an european counterpoint to Kenny Larkin's bouncy, super elegant and aerial take set by seminal releases such as Pod's "The Vanguard EP", but also by the more romantic side of UR, or Carl Craig's classics from that era.
So, "Pure" and "Vibes" follow that european Detroit-influenced trend from the early 90's (think Flux' "True Feeling" or some Luke Slater/Clementine goodies), the former with sharper beats reminding the strong electro roots of its creator ; the latter on a more hooverish Saunderson tip ; both with a more simple and naive approach than the already sophisticated Detroit originals.
Then "Image Shift" is another story, a pre-Neil Landstrumm groovy techno mindfuckery.
Quality overall.
