The one by Acrid Abeyance is the wickedest of all "Flash" remixes, a killer combination of Chicago's psych-funk and German acid trance.

When reading all the names on this release you are going to be like "wow". But for me it was "Flash (Green Velvet Mix)" and "Flash (Paul Johnson Mix)" only. "I'm Losing My Mind" is good too but it is also available on "RR 764" spread across an entire side.

I usually do my best to get black vinyl, but back when this came out, green was the only one I could get hold of. (No internet, kids, can you believe that?) Anyway, I've grown to love this green beast and I think the remixes as fuckin great too.

Worth considerably more than what it goes for IMHO, 'Fake N Phoney' is a staple techno classic & my personal fave GV track. You can also get it on the 'Portamento' 12" on Relief Records, but you'll need to fork out some wedge for a decent copy... The vocal alone should dig the weeds out the dance-floor. DJ Rush's RMX I dig for the original & typically off kilter Rush approach & trade-mark rolled percussion. PJ's mix is also a great interpretation, sounding like much of his Relief material & doing a bumpin' fine job of it. Jellybean's mix holds a minimal acid composure & works great in the mix, like a slower DJ Hyperactive track, while Sneak just goes in hard. Boo turns in a trademark deep shuffler with subtle chords & wiggle bassline, & Curtis' own remake does away with the speech & focuses on the percussion & sheer machine impact. Classic techno biz.

PS: While some train-spotters might go for the US Relief release, it's worth considering that Open released some gems & exclusive versions of tracks by Carl Craig/Paperclip People, Derrick may, Mike Dunn etc & were bang on their game at the time. Likewise, with this version of Flash containing the hard to get 'Fake & Phoney' unlike the Relief release, its a creditable 2X 12" for the collection.

Bought this just for Fake and Phony. Not disappointed. One of the most raw techno/electronica tracks out there.

i'll be honest the remixes are all a bit of a muchness but worth buying alone for "I'm Losing My Mind" which is one of green velvets best tracks

does anyone know if this was actually out on promo in 1994? i cant remember what tape it was on but i remember first hearing this mixed out of How & Little - Ego trip https://www.discogs.com/How-Little-Jammin-Breaks/release/72103 might have been a recording from industry in toronto possibly mixed by sneak + derrick carter?

Awesome remix package. I've always found it difficult to choose my favourite, but really it's DT's mixes. At the time, Danny Tenaglia's remix got all the plays because of it's cavernous bass and its propulsive drums. Played loud it destroyed everywhere. It's almost *too* much.

But the Timo Maas mixes are great too - his main mix is superb rolling techno, good for increasing the tempo in a set. His Dirty Dub converts the nastiness of DT's mixes into thumping 3am techno with a tight electro bass-line.
