Nice prog folk album this. Varied both in terms of instrumentation and choice of songs. The inclusion of a Beatles cover is at first glance perhaps a little surprising but it is performed beautifully. The musicianship of the band is incredible but I feel that it lacks on overall cohesion.
The merging of the modern electronic synth sounds with the traditional rock setup plus woodwind really gives this album a unique sound. There are other prog bands that include the flute, but due to ignorance I cannot think of any that feature a bassoon as prominently as this.

There was some confusion over the Curio & Progressive International CD releases of the four Gryphon Transatlantic albums. At Ultima Thule we stocked the co-released version in 1994, from various sources: WMMS (Germany), Chrome Dreams (UK), Syn-Phonic (USA), and at the time never knew of a UK press on Curio via Plastic Head in 1995. We later had second-hand copies of those, which I assumed were repros or unofficial due to the print quality (looking a lot like Germanofon issues). Seems we've now sorted out this complex mystery, except - does anyone know if Progressive International CD issues exist that are not Curio co-releases?
