Serious Sound was definitly by favourite tune of 2002. It has a seriously uplifting breakdown with absolutely bad ass percussion. You'll Know It is also a very good tune which fits in my hard trance sets well. The backing melody is much better than the main one in the breakdown.

At the time, this particular release from the ever-impressive Guy Mearns was a great leap in the Hard Trance scene - a long way ahead of it's time in production terms, 'Serious Sound' combined slick, snipping percussion with a swift bass and euphoric Hard Trance (not forgetting the trademark "Time to lay down some serious sound..." quote), a sound which many where to copy.

I personally prefer the B side, 'You'll Know It', which (despite being in the minor key - as many Hard Trancers are) always seems to put a smile on my face. The brash, screeching, so-simple-yet-painfully-effective sub-riff is a memorable sound (listen to it and you'll hear what I mean). The opening minute following inital kick-off is a blinder, coupling the aforementioned riff with a grinding, no-nonsense and almost humorous kick and bass. More melodic than 'Serious Sound', this track steals the spotlight on this single, still a personal favourite of mine 2 years on.

A turning point for UK Hard Trance - I monitor Guyver's progress in 2004+ with great intrigue and excitment...!
