If I had to pick my favorite record of the thriving mid-90's coldwave era it would be a tough choice between "Transmissions From Uranus" and Chemlab's "Burn Out At The Hydrogen Bar." It truly is excellent from beginning to end. In a genre where nearly every song is about war, death, heroin, suicide, or some other depressing topic it's incredibly refreshing to come across a band with a sense of humor. Due to a legal battle with the now defunct Energy Records the band was basically held hostage and unable to release anything new. Finally, in 2003, they inked a deal with Metropolis Records who put out "Über Alles." Having all but forgotten about Hanzel Und Gretyl I was thrilled to learn they were releasing new material and touring. The new record re-ignited my love of "Transmissions..." and, in my mind, confirmed it as a classic in the genre. An absolute must-have for industrial fans, particularly those big into coldwave.
