In most cases, when it comes to splits or compilations you have to lower your sights in one way or another and this one is no exception. Crank starts off with a piece of his hectic, cut-up, vocal/noise melange, so far fairly solid, if not necessarily outstanding. General crankness I'd say. Then, after a short sequence of almost babbling only, just before he really starts to be a pain in the neck, he finally shuts up and the track gets really good! Like a 5/5 sorta good in my opinion. Very bizarre bubbling noises. Perfect. Pop Culture Rape Victim continues with quite a nice track, a rather short one, lo-fi-ish, getting better the longer it plays. Sounds a bit like playing with mixer feedbacks and delay. Not bad. The next track by SS unfortunately made me skip it after a while. Sounds like a live recording (it probably is in respect of the title) of random noise, sporadically with silly growlish vocals. I really can't get anything out of this. Luckily The Haters wrap this whole thing up with a short but super slick finale, which reminds me a lot of GX's recent suitcase/noisebelt recordings (such as on the "Arbeiter von Wien" 7inch). A very tight and continous, yet super dynamic noisescape with sort of a vintage industrial touch. Very nice.
