One of the best proper minimal techno records I own. The swedes unload their New York credentials in a manner so confident that even the most ardent Yankees follower would have to take his hat off and pay some serious respect.
Speaking of well orchestrated structures and build-ups... Naturally it all sounds the same upon initial listens, but try applying the random needle drop technique here, and witness the immense detail and concentration on every possible aspect of the sound become palpable.
It fits in perfectly within the Synewave catalog, and is one of my favorite records on the label. A perfect blend of the linear, New York tautness, recommended to anyone who's into the Stoll sound or Joey Beltram's "Places", and the scandinavian upbeat funk, along the lines of Skoog's tribal pounders for the clubs.
My favorite track is Final Level, and it could safely go on for twenty minutes for what I care, and I'd hardly manage to escape its charging and robust hypnotic layers.
Shift is the most aggressive contribution however, a proper assault on the dance arenas, with a gritty bass line making it impervious to disgrace, and driving it deep into the remotest parts of the club, bed room, or wherever the action is at the given time. Check this 12" out, it's a total winner. Not quite the best thing you'll ever hear, but when it's this good, why should it be?
