Stands head and shoulders above most of the later discovered CMI stuff which is a pale copy to this pure sublunary bliss.

This is not an album but a compilation of pieces recorded between 1997 and 1999. It is a disturbing and equally beautiful soundscape where you follow in the footsteps of a journeyman wandering the desolate forest, only the stars to guide him through the night. However, the journey ends much to soon, because just beyond that mystical hill lies another dirty city full of bustling machinery, and before you know it you are listening to squealing pigs in what is presumably a slaughterhouse. Actually, this compilation reminds me a lot of "Ars Moriendi", Which also features compiled works from CMI labelmate Memorandum. Both CD:s are equally beautiful and disappointing at the same time. At it's best Heid offers captivating and beautiful music, at it's worst it is just another uninteresting cacophony of noise.
