SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT RECORD - January 2, 1974
Henry Tobias, one of the three brothers well known as song writers for some 40 years (Miss You, Sweet and Lovely, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree), has composed the music and lyrics to a song "Hang In There Mr. President". Henry has recorded the song with his own voice, and it has been issued on a 45 rpm single by Telemark Records.
Tobias, nominally a Democrat, has been a long-time supporter of the President. During the 1960 campaign he wrote "Fixin' a Date With Nixon." In 1972, at the suggestion of Richard Mason, a worker in John Connally's Democrat's For Nixon, Tobias wrote "I'm A Democrat for Nixon". Several weeks ago, Mason, now co-owner with his wife of Telemark Records, phoned Tobias and suggested that Henry compose another Nixon song. Inspired by an ad in the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner headed "Hang in There Mr. President", Tobias dashed off his song that night and recorded it the next day using a piano and his own voice.
The record, Telemark 893, has a sing-along version on the flip side...
