Hiroshi Watanabe, better known as Kaito, releases GENESIS under his own name, but even here, he sticks with his tried-and-true technique: blissful, trancey chords and steady beats. "Sui-Sei" never skimps on the melodic content, but only magnifies it. The rhythm is more pronounced on "Illumination," though the dreamy synths are still front-and-center, while "You Smile, Tears" keeps the beats initially on the back burner before moving them up in this meditative track. The title track blends a mystical-sounding melody with enough lower notes to ground it (the later "Beatless Version" will show how crucial those bass tones are), and "Omega" brings in more of an elecro vibe to its synths. "Sight" offers a woodwind-like tune that floats about its surroundings, but it's "Grace" that gets the groove going in spades. I'm not sure how much Watanabe needs a genesis, because his music seems fully-formed.
