A question about the photos. How can the 1962 original have a '26 years Blue Note...' inner sleeve?

Even though this isn't considered the best Horace Silver album, there is still something endearing about it. Perhaps it is Silver's trademark smile accompanied by two Japanese friends on the cover. Or maybe that despite the title of the album, there aren't many far east influences to be heard. Regardless, The Tokyo Blues is a mandatory record to own (if you can find it) if you care about Silver, Blue Note records, the Hard Bop genre or Jazz itself.

"The Tokyo Blues", a quintessential mid-'60s Blue Note session, is Horace Silver's tribute to the Japanese people who have long supported his funky, Latin-flavored modern jazz. American jazz has always been wildly popular in Japan, and this album is Silver's homage to the many fans that he has encountered on various triumphant tours of the island nation. While Silver's trademark funky Latin/swing is at the forefront, the inspiration of eastern delights is clearly evident in all aspects of this grooving date.
