A friend of mine also found this LP to have a pressing defect on the lead in groove that caused the stylus to literally bounce out the groove. This was on five of the six sides. Viewing the vinyl under a magnifying glass there are clear indications of a pressing defect in the lead in groove. Scrubbing with a brush and record cleaning fluid did not remove or lessen the problem. Appears to be a pressing and quality control issue. The discogs seller refused to admit there was a problem and ignored my friend's concerns and request for a refund.

"McKowsky's First Fifth" was not on the original 1979 Nimbus West release, which is probably why it is missing here.

Slightly disappointed that the "McKowsky's First Fifth" is missing in the Outernational release. Curiously, two tracks from the "live@IUCC" are used to beef up the "Flight" release so they can sell it as a double LP. This is somehow disappointing and I am not willing to fork nearly 90 euros for a repress that does not do justice Tapscot Arkedtra's incredible music...

No complaints here on the pressing. Was a little noisy at first but a quick wash seems to have fixed that issue. A pretty low-fi recording but still very powerful performances! Interested to see if Soul Jazz are still reissuing this or if it’s a boot or they are competing pressings or what.....

Reissue incoming from Soul Jazz on 05.04.19 - triple vinyl with bonus track, and "The Call" to follow.......
Both also reissued by Outernational Sounds - WTF is going on?

I think this is one of the best records on the Nimbus West label, but the recording quality is of a poor standard.
The music and musicians play great uplifting music but the recording does not capture the essence of the individual players.
A studio would have provided better acoustics, but the band was too large for a studio setting.
