Big pop hit in England too - i was part of the (starting to slightly fade away) jazz-funk scene at the time and instead electro stuff like this was the way things were going - a lot of the dj's around London resisted playing stuff like this and went off in a completely jazzy version but for me stuff like this good beats but with an electronic vibe was what i'd been waiting for for years. I remember hearing this plus Unique 'What I Got is What You Need' back to back at the Windsor Safari funk club (just outside London) back in 1983 probably the night everyone stopped dancing on watched the Michael Jackson Thriller video on the big screen above the dance floor. Happy times. problem was after the initial flurry of good electro stuff in 1982-84 the dance scene in England (probably globally?) had probably the worst years ever in 1985-87 when everything seemed to be dying, appalling beats, and that was why when house music arrived it was so needed to revive everything.

Derrick DuPree did a fantastic job on the lead vocals. Curtis Hudson, Lisa Stevens, Lauriece Hudson and Ray Hudson on Background. Curtis played bass synth, keyboards, guitar and drum programming. Bashiri Johnson on percussions , Fred Zarr synth solo and Alan Wentz did all the slick appreciator stuff. Of course Jelly Bean mixed the heck out of it and his additional production is cool. Michael Hutchinson did great job engineering the track. They had fun doing this record.

I don't know about you guys, but this song is the JAM. Straight poppin' beat all over this.

Its got the great drummachine sounds, with super smooth synths. Topped off with a great Vocoder& drizzled with some tasty Cowbells! What more could you want in a Electro jam? Definitely a must have for those that enjoy old school ELECTRO jams.

Positive lyrics like all the joints from the 80s with class. This is one of those cuts where you have to blast it!

I found this record completely randomly when I was looking through the stacks at a $1 record shop. Later I discovered that this song was featured on the Breakin' soundtrack, which is kind of strange, since it's not breakdancing music in the slightest. (So if you're expecting Newcleus or something similar, this probably won't be your cuppa.) All that aside, though, this track is pretty dope. It's soulful without being cheesy or over the top. The vocals are great, and the music is nice and funky while still being machine-like and electronic enough to suit my tastes.
