Gave it a few tries but really the audio mix is unbearable. Bass too strong -- saturating at times, lack of treble, and mediums are just hot mess with voice/guitar/drums fighting to get out in an over-compressed mix. This is MP3 on vinyl, a missed opportunity to shine. Luckily I saw the band live and they sounded a lot better. They need to fire the sound engineer!

"Radioactive" and "Demons" are real headbangers - they're the songs that got me into this band. Just saw them at WayHome music fest... and what can I say? You don't know the energy they can harness until you've seen their live act.

Pressing-wise, this is made in Germany by Optimal Media, and also mastered in-house there (it's a DMM cut, just in case you can't tell one visually). The LP is housed in their usual very nice poly-lined inner sleeve.

Sure, it may not be audiophile-quality, but for a brickwall-limited master with the occasional bass distortion due to digital clipping (and I don't really get to hear any of that outside of "Radioactive", "Demons" and "Nothing Left to Say"), I'd say this is actually very decent. It doesn't totally sound squashed, claustrophobic and ultra-distorted. There's a shred of openness to the soundstage. I find brickwalled masters to generally be ill-suited for vinyl due to how ugly the groove distortion can get (I'm looking at you, Californication), and this is not bad in that respect.

I'm definitely not disappointed with this one - you can certainly do a lot worse. For what it is, it sounds very good, and given it's pressed at a reputable German plant, I'd definitely recommend this one over the US pressing, which from the looks of it is made by United (notorious for their sloppy QC, even though I have more good records made by them than bad).

I love this album, it’s absolutely fantastic. But this pressing is really not very good. I was incredibly disappointed with the distortion on bass frequencies. The dynamic range has been completely squashed and everything is just loud. It sounds like a low quality stream rather than the rich quality I would’ve expected from a vinyl release.

Tl;dr: would not recommend this pressing.

I'm not sure the pressing year of the record, but the import label says it's made in Germany (though you know the printings say "made in EU"). The quality is superb. Let's remember that vinyl records have a lesser dynamic range than a CD or a SACD, but the engineers did a great job. I'm so proud to have this in my hands.

Can anyone comment on the sound quality of this release? I have heard bad things about the 2012 U.S. pressing and wondered if this one was any different.
