I personally haven't heard the original Capitol version like mentioned below, however I think this issue still sounds good. Maybe not the best it could be, but still sounds really great

I had to spent countless hours on Steve Hoffman's forums to read, analyze, try to know which Maiden reissues I should buy reading different buyers opinions, considering this reissue campaign was received with mixed feelings about the results. Somewhere in Time was a difficult choice, I wanted to have both a GOOD looking cover and GOOD sounding copy.

To be honest, this one is visually okay, it's not as sharp as the original artwork, but far from awful. There's just a lack of contrast overall, but it's far from being awful (Seventh Son however is clearly a miss)...

Soundwise, overall, this is a great copy. As others mentionned before me, there's a strange problem on a specific track (The Loneliness [...] ), but it last for less than a second on my copy. Some others seems to have really bad issues on this track, mine is obviously not perfect but not as bad from what I've heard, not sure what happened.

The US reissue doesn't have this problem, which is quite strange considering the US reissues seems to be way more problematic than the EU ones, once again from what I've read from people who bought both.

Beside that, this reissue is far from stinky, it sounds really good overall, and they did a proper VINYL mastering, something we don't see that much for bands like Maiden nowadays (see Back on Black reissues if you want to learn more about crap reissues...) ...

They were produced in large quantities so there's obviously some problems on various copies, but honestly, they did a really good job overall, if you want a mint copy of this stellar album, go for this one, if you're lucky, search for an original, it will be obviously better, but this reissue is pretty good. Go for the US version to avoid the small problem mentioned above.

Thanks Grim_Skunk for these samples videos. The distortion on the guitar is easily noticable on the 2nd track :

It's harder to hear the difference on the first one. But it's enough to avoid this pressing.
My Parlophone repress of Live After Death sounds fine to me (https://www.discogs.com/Iron-Maiden-Live-After-Death/release/6228619). Anyone could compare it to an earlier release ?

I am so disappointed with this release, it sounds thin, and the bottom is weak, compared to the old EMI recordings, and I am not sure wat happened to the intro of, the loneliness of the long distance runner, at some point it goes alle out of tune, like if someone played around with 33/45 button just four a short time, but it's enough to make you look up every time.
Too bad it could have been a grait album.
