Lovely pressing, sounds superb.

I bought Hypnophobia yesterday after listening to the single Find Yourself on Youtube. Jacco's first LP is amazing, and I was interested to see where he would go on this follow up.

It's a much more personal LP in a way, as I think he sheds the Syd Barrett era Floyd / Beach Boys influences quite a bit.

Don't worry, Jacco still resonates their beauty, but he has definitely found his own way too.

There's a distinct electronic flavour to this LP. For example, listen to Find Yourself. Jacco puts a filter on his voice, which transports it straight to Boards Of Canada territory.

There's also been talk of comparisons to AIR, which I totally get.

A very promising continuation of form, which shows every sign of getting even better for this great artist.

A great record. Sadly, many of these limited edition red vinyl copies seem to have shipped with seam split damage to the top center of the sleeve during original shipping. You see that in the quantity of for sale copies that are unopened yet mention this damage. Question a copy listed with a mint sleeve to confirm, but know that one with light seam splits along the top could essentially be new as well.

Gardner released a truly solid album with Cabinet of Curiosities, and Hypnophobia is a super worthy follow-up. 4 stars due to new vinyl shipping sleeve damage.

On his debut album Cabinet Of Curiosities (2013) moved the young Hoornse artist Jacco Gardner itself by a record closet full of psychedelic masters as Brian Wilson, Syd Barrett and The Beatles. The amazement and admiration with which he distilled from his own sixties-sound, provided a beautiful and almost authentic album on. It brought him worldwide recognition. That made sure that he is again in good spirits could retreat to his successor Hypnophobia Hoornse studio to work on which he plays all the instruments except drums, itself. On his second album sounds more confident while he again the psychedelic sixties invents Gardner. But that admiration seems gone now and replaced with management, whereby also the craziness of his heroes as Barrett and Wilson is not provided. Too bad, because this is a handsome but also Hypnophobia volatile style plate on which the draft somewhat lacking.

In what way is this a repress? Is it black vinyl? I ask because it was only released a few days ago.

My pressing has some black streaks in it, truly a psychedelic album!

It's an edition of 500, there are also 500 on white, not an indies only edition, thanks.

I think Grey Lanes is the best track on this record, sounds great on vinyl too. Overall, I believe the instrumentation to be a bit better than on his previous release, especially the guitars, but not really anything new under the sun.
